SA2 P2

It was a lovely day. The sun was shining brightly. As Jack was heading to the nearby park, the mischievous boy decided not to cross the overhead bridge.  He decided to cross the road instead.  The road had very heavy traffic.

As Jack was crossing, there were many horns blaring and he got distracted.  Suddenly, he stopped and turned his head.  He was shocked because there was a car speeding towards him.

“Crash!” Jack was unconscious and he was bleeding profusely.  The driver rushed out of his car and immediately called for the ambulance.  After a few minutes, the paramedics arrived and sent Jack to the nearest hospital.

Fortunately, the doctor saved Jack.  He was discharged from the hospital after a few weeks.  Jack was scolded by his mother and he promised his mother never to jaywalk again.  Jack learnt an important lesson: always observe road safety.

P2 Playing With Fire

It was as quiet as a graveyard. The owl was hooting outside his house. John was feeling bored at home. He spotted a matchbox. A great idea hit him! He decided to do an experiment.

First, he took some newspapers and a box of matchsticks. He knelt down and his hand lit a matchstick. The orange flame was glowing brightly. He dropped it on the newspapers. Flames of fire came out from it. The fire grew bigger and bigger. John felt extremely frightened. He screamed for help!

Luckily, his mother woke up from her deep sleep and rushed like a lightning bolt down the flight of stairs. She caught sight of the enormous fire and her heart pounded very fast. His mother rushed into the kitchen and wet a blanket with water. She ran to the fire and hit the flames many times. Fortunately, the fire was put out.

John's mother was very angry with what John did. She scolded John furiously for his misdeed. John apologised and promised not to do it again.

P2 A Kind Boy

It was a fine Monday morning. Tom was at the bus-stop, going to school. He spotted a familiar figure. It was his favourite Science teacher, Mr Ong. Glad to see him, Tom greeted him with a smile. “How are you today, Tom?” Mr Ong asked. “I am fine. Thank you,” came his happy reply.
Soon, the bus came and the two boarded the bus. Tom found a seat and sat down while Mr Ong sat a distance away. At the next bus stop, an old man with a walking stick entered the bus. Tom stoop up and offered his seat to him. The old man felt grateful and praised him for his help. The other passengers also nodded in affirmation. Tom felt very proud that he had done a good deed.
After that, Tom reached his destination. He came down from the bus and caught sight of an elderly lady, carrying a heavy basket. She was struggling to carry it. Tom felt sorry for her and offered to lend a helping hand. The old lady was delighted and said, “Thank you very much.” Tom carried the basket to her block and bade farewell at the lift lobby. John skipped to school in joy, knowing that he did something kind.
When he reached his classroom, Mr Ong entered with a wide smile. He invited Tom to the front and praised him for being a kind Samaritan. His classmates were very impressed with his kindness. Tom felt very proud of himself that day.

P2: Lost A Pet

It was Sue's tenth birthday. Her mother decided to buy her a lovely birthday present. It was a snowy-white kitten and Sue was surprised and overjoyed.

She named her 'Snow White' and loved her very much. Every night, Sue would tug her to bed which was a soft and comfortable basket beside her pine bed. Every morning, Snow White would mew loudly and lick her awake without fail.

One day, Snow White went missing. Sue felt horrible. She searched high and low, left and right and in every nook and cranny, but could not find her at all. Sue thought that Snow White was dead and cried for many days.

When it was Sue's eleventh birthday, she was thinking of Snow White again. Tears brimmed in her eyes. Just then, Sue heard a soft mew and saw Snow White marching in with a tom cat and a litter of kittens. Sue realised that Snow White had become a mother.

Now Sue has seven cats and feels happier than ever before.

P2 Fire

Everywhere was as quiet as a graveyard. Tom was alone at home because his parents were out for a wedding dinner.

The boy was feeling bored. He entered the kitchen and spotted a match box and candles. A mischevious idea struck him like a lightning bolt. He decided to light the candle. Perhaps he could toast some marshmallows as well.

However, the match burnt his finger and he accidentally dropped the lit matchstick into the waste paper basket. There were some tossed newspapers inside and smoke rose from the basket and it burst into flames. Tom felt shocked and terrified, feeling helpless. What should he do?

Overwhelmed by fear, he ran to the door and screamed for help. Mr Tan, his neighbour, heard his cries and hurried over. However, the door was locked and there was no way Mr Tan could enter without the key. The quick-thinking Mr Tan called '995' and Tom's parents and instructed Tom to be calm and crouch low.

In a flash of time, the siren wailed down the street. The fire engine had arrived! The firemen sprang into action. They ran to Tom's unit. They broke open the door and used their hoses to put out the fire. Luckily, it was doused in no time. However, the whole kitchen was already burnt down.

Tom felt sorry for his mischief. He knew he had to face the music from his parents when they returned. He vowed never to do it again.

Composition Training with mum - P2 Beach Outing

Family Beach Outing

It was a lovely day. The sun was playing peek-a-boo with the clouds. Dad decided to go to the beach because it was my tenth birthday. Mum, my sister, Risa, and I started packing the food, the swimming costumes and the mat. Then, we loaded them into the boot and drove to our destination. Excitement bubbled inside me as I looked forward to the swim.

At the beach, it was very crowded with families. They were sun-bathing, swimming or building sandcastles. Luckily, there was one last place left for us which was under a shady tree. We eagerly changed into our swimming costumes, took our floats and goggles and ran to the embrace of white, lapping waves.

Dad joined us in the swim. Wearing our goggles, we played water-splashing competition in the sea. Risa and I 'attacked' our dad furiously and he was the loser of the game. We were really having a whale of a time and my skin turned chocolate brown under the scorching sun.

After playing, we were hungry and tired. Mum told us to have our lunch. I could not wait to eat the delicious food and gassy lemonade. We came out of the cold water, plonked down and ate our fills. Once we finished our meal, we sang some songs and listened to music.

Soon, the sun was going down the horizon. We decided to go home. I felt very glad to have this bonding time with my family. I really looked forward to the next trip.
